Spousal Opportunities
There are many opportunities available to you and your family in Saskatchewan. The more free time you and your family have, the more time you have to spend together. This is unique to Saskatchewan since the average commute time in the province is 20 minutes or less.
If you are considering living and working here it is important that your spouse and other family members know about the opportunities available to them as well. There are a number of websites (listed below) to assist in finding further information.
Pre-Employment
- Research and learn more about the occupations in Saskatchewan before looking for work. The Ministry of Immigration and Career Training has more information.
- The Government of Canada website provides information to those who may require assistance with assessment of international credentials.
- There are eleven Regional Newcomer Gateway Welcome Centers throughout the province. They welcome all immigrant newcomers, whether coming to Saskatchewan directly from abroad or from another province. Settlement advisors can assist newcomers in providing opportunities to discuss your individual needs in more detail.
Networking
In Saskatchewan, advertised job openings may be found on job websites, in newspapers, at job fairs and or on community bulletin boards. It is important to know that some jobs are not advertised. Finding these types of jobs requires professional networking with managers, employees, family, friends and acquaintances.
- Networking involves exchanging ideas and information with people you know, people you do not know and people you have just met.
- The Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce is an example of a Community Service Organization that can provide you with an excellent networking opportunity.

Job Search Service Centers and Sites
- SaskJobs Career Services provide assistance to link the abilities of Saskatchewan workers with the needs of employers. Staff at these offices across the province provide assistance with career and job opportunity training and/or education.
- Saskatchewan Government Careers lists jobs available within the Saskatchewan Public Service.
- Saskjobs.ca is the largest job-posting site in Saskatchewan. It has postings for entry-level, trade, professional and management positions. Jobs are listed by occupation and region as well as a description of each and information on how to apply.
- Health Careers in Saskatchewan lists healthcare job opportunities with the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) and the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency.
